The medina, the historical core of Tunis, was built in the 7th century AD and is a world heritage site with ancient mosques and historical buildings. A market place where slaves were sold by Muslim corsairs, an enormous mausoleum where the remains of Tunisian princesses, Husseinite beys, and other VIP’s were laid to rest, and the Zitouna Mosque that had its beginnings in the 7th century are among the fascinating attractions of Tunis. |

Souq el-Attarine - The Perfume Makers' Souq (market) is an aromatic adventure in oils and spices and attracts the visitors by the fragrant perfumes of its wares.
Dar Ben Abdallah Museum – This magnificent building is a work of art in itself, and houses the Centre for Popular Arts & Traditions.
Ville Nouvelle – Sidewalk cafés and patisseries, and streets lined with fine examples of French colonial buildings lend this area of Tunis a decidedly European ambience.
Bardo Museum – Once the Bardo Palace, official residence of the Husseinite Beys, houses a collection of Carthaginian, Roman, Christian and Arab-Islamic artefacts.
